About
Marketing operations, mostly on systems somebody else built.
I build and govern marketing operations infrastructure. My hands-on depth is in HubSpot and Salesforce, the data moving between them, and the reporting that depends on both being right.
Almost every system I have worked on, I inherited. Someone else made the architecture decisions, and by the time I arrived the person who made them was gone and the reasons were undocumented. I would spend the first few months working out what was actually running before I dould change anything safely.
Map, Triage, Hold came out of doing that repeatedly and noticing I was running the same sequence every time. See what you have. Fix what is costing you. Hold the line so it does not drift back.
My background is electrical engineering before marketing, which is probably why I think about marketing stacks as system with failure modes rather than as tools with features.
I write about this work, judge industry awards, and serve on the board of the Oklahoma City chapter of the American Marketing Association.
